Whakapapa: Ngati Awa/Tuwharetoa Help
Kia Ora,

I'm on a journey searching for my whakapapa. My research has come to a hault so am wondering if anyone knows about my ancestors below. I have links to Ngati Awa and Tuwharetoa based on info i've been told.

Hehiri Perenara (Tuwharetoa) married Kune (Ngāti Awa). Not sure on dates or other names, but these are my great grandmothers grand parents. Possibly pre european?

My Great grandmother is Irihitoto Elizabeth Emily Ward, born 1886. Elizabeth married a pakeha Alexander Black.

Irihitoto Elizabeths parents are Raiha Irihitoto (also known as Eliza Ward) who married a pakeha Thomas Ward.

Raihas parents are Hehiri and Kune (as above)

Thats all the info I have, if anyone knows where I can look/ who I could talk to please let me know or email nznativegirl@gmail.com, i'd be forever greatful and can complete the full picture of my whakapapa and identity (very important for me to know where I'm from and who my people are).

Ngā mihi nui!

Kia ora,

Here is a link that has alot of the Perenara whanau
https://www.famil...zealand%22 It is a good idea to look over all of the results as there maybe a name that you recognise, or think it looks familiar, or it could be spelt differently or could be from the same area and when you click that record you realise they could be a relation!

You can then change the names in the search box on the left but keep the country set to New Zealand. Sometimes it is better to search for just a surname as you never know who you will find.

NOTE: Not all of the info in that site is accurate but it is a good place to start.

Good luck!! Smile
Nau te raurau,
Naku te raurau,
Ka ora ai nga tangata!
Together we will get there!
